Doug Chabot inputs data using SnowPilot Tehnology!

SnowPilot is a free software program that allows you to collect snowpit and avalanche occurrence data onto your PDA (aka. Palm Pilot). This data is then stored on your PC and uploaded to a database on the web. It consists of three main parts:

1) In the field you can collect and input all your snowpit measurements (layers, temps, tests) onto your PDA.

2) At home or at the office you can hot synch your PDA which uploads the data onto your PC. From here you can look at your pit profile. Using a separate screen capture program you can print everything out, or save it as a bitmap.

3) At your convenience you can upload all your data to a central database. From here you can view and print any uploaded pit (yours, as well as others). You can search based on state, mountain range or pit site. Advanced queries to the data can be performed by qualified researchers.

Additional feature:

You can enter your pit data straight onto the web. This allows you to bypass your PDA. For example, if you recorded your data in a notebook you could then copy it onto the Enter Pit web page. This way you can still save the data, and print out a profile for your records.
