SnowPilot Desktop Application
This application extracts data from the SnowPilot data files hot synched to your computer and allows you to store and view your data locally, the application also allows you to send your data to the web application from your PC.
Installation instructions:
- Make sure you have java installed (if you haven't installed it already, java JRE download link on previous page).
- Download the AvDesktop.jar file.
- Install the file in your 'user' folder for your Palm desktop software. IE. if you have a handspring device and your user name is 'Mark', this might be
C:\ProgramFiles\Handspring\Mark, or for a Palm device C:\ProgramFiles\Palm\Mark, the important thing is the application should be installed in a directory above where you're device hot-syncs to.
- Double-click the file to start the application, for convenience you may want to create a short cut and place it on your desktop.
Using the application:
- Use the Snow Pilot Waba application to record your data.
- Hot sync as you normally would.
- Upon starting the desktop application you should see a list of your snow pits and avalanche occurrences that were recorded on your device.
- To send your data to the web application/database, select 'Send data.' from the 'file' menu, wait until you see the second dialog box that displays 'Data sent' to close the application, you should now see your pits/occurrences listed when you start the Data Viewing Applet.
- If you delete pits from your desktop, they will be repopulated the next time you hot synch unless you delete them from your PDA too.
